What are you reading? Tell us about it! Not sure what to read? Click the Book Reviews link above to discover what professional readers think about books at the New York Times or read posts here to find out what your classmates are reading. What should you include in the post:

1. Well, starting with a TITLE would be great! That way someone else can find the book!
2. An author is helpful too...obvious reasons.
3. What did you think of the book?

Not sure what to say? Again, check out the NY Times Book Reviews Linked to the post title above, but keep yours a bit shorter if you can. Happy reading!

The title of the book is The Perks of a Wallflower. This book was challenged to be banned by the US for its language and context. I have read this book myself and I must say that their is much to learn from this book. It has many lessons that teenagers today fail to see clearly.

This book does have many parts that are not suitable but they teach you things that happen everyday in our life. I dont want to specify any because I believe the true learning can be found in the book. I recomand that everyone read this and other challenged books because they have serious and real life messages that are important for teenagers and adults that we need to learn.

Happy Reading,

The Skin I'm In by Sharon G. Flake

In The Skin I'm In by Sharon G. Flake, Maleeka is teased by her classmates about how she looks which causes her to struggle with accepting, and being proud of, who she is and what she has to offer. Because Maleeka lacks self-confidence, she is easily pulled into a group of girls who cause trouble and eventually set fire to a classroom. Will Maleeka ever be comfortable in her own skin? I liked this book because it talks about issues such as peer acceptance and personal identity that many adolescents face in school. I would strongly recommend this book to young adolescents and adults as well because the underlying message of being comfortable with who you are is important to everyone.

THE LOCK AND THE KEY
By, Sarah Dessen
This was a great book; I recommend it 5 out of 5 stars. It’s about learning to accept help as help and not defeat, learning to help others, and becoming close to others. Throughout the story you’ll realize what a true family is, not just people you’re related to you and maybe you don’t have it the worst.

The Boy With The Stripped Pajamas by John Boyne.
. This book was about a little boy named Bruno that is the son of a Nazi who lived in Berlin with his family. One day when Bruno came home from school his maid was upstairs in his room packing his clothes. Bruno was very curious about why she was packing his things. She simply explained to Bruno that she would let his mother and father explain to him what is going on. Bruno moved form his lovely home in Berlin to a unfamiliar place called an “out-with”. Bruno notices a fence and a boy behind the fence wearing a set of stripped pajamas and he also notices that the boy is wearing a arm band with a star on it. Bruno quickly befriends the boy. A couple days after meeting the boy Bruno’s father has a dinner and the man that come to dinner was “The Fury”. Bruno is too young to realize that he has just met Adolf Hitler and is living on the basis of a Concentration camp.

The book that I have read was by the author by the name of Sue Monk Kidd. The book is called the Secret Life Of Bees. This book is about three sisters and one young white girl by the name of Lily owens her mother died and her father who name is T.Ray owens Takes care of her as well as her care taker rosaleen. Lily and her caretaker Rosaleen went to register Roseleen to vote. At that time black people like Rosaleen got a law passed to vote. Some white guys messed with Rosaleen and she got made and did somthing wrongful . She went to the hospital/jail because the white guys hit her for pouring spit on there shoes. Lily broke her out of the hospital/jail. And Lily's mom had a honey jar with a black mary on it (at that time was wrong to white people). And she asked the store clark does he know where the women lives that makes the honey. He told her and she went to the women's who house who's name was August and she had two sisters named June and May. Little did Lily know that Agust was her mothers nanny. She later found that out in the story. There's alot of descriminating in this book mostly against blacks. because this story was around about the civil rights movement time. But in the end the story came out to be happy and good.

I watched this movie called Malcom X.This movie was involving the civil right movement.unlike Martin Luhter king Malcom X belived in violence. He went against "the white man ".Before Malcom X was Malcom X his real name was Maclom little and he did some wrong things before good.He did things like date a white women(it was wrong because of the civil rights time he lived in).He also, did drugs and robbed rich people.Malcom X got caught stelling and he went to jail. While in jail he met a man who was once like him and he changed his life around and became a muslim. The man taught Malcom how to change his life around and he became a muslim. When Malcom got out of jail he preached the word of god.He influenced alot of peolpe to belive that "the white man " was wrong and white people hated Malcom for that.Malcom soon came out to belive that the man he looked up to was a lie and made him into believing that he was right. After Malcom discoverd he was wrong he tried to apologise but before he could someone shoot him.
